Preventive Advice |
|
We recommend a comprehensive skin examination, not just looking at a spot that may be of concern to you. We have found that most melanoma patients were not aware of the lesion themselves at the time of diagnosis at the clinic. This is because some of the signs we recognize can only be seen on magnification or on comparison with previous mole images that have been recorded with our imaging equipment. For more information: |

Some early skin cancers may be able to be treated without surgery. These treatments may be a cream (Aldara, Efudix) or a combination of cream and light therapy (MetVix Photodynamic Therapy). These treatments give excellent cosmetic results but the cost cannot be bulk-billed. Unfortunately, melanoma always requires surgery. For more information: |

Non-Surgical Treatment |

We provide the full range of surgical treatment that can be performed under local anaesthetic. These include, biopsies for diagnosis, simple removal of skin cancers, skin flaps and skin grafts. For patients with very advanced lesions or who are not suitable for outpatient treatment, we will refer to an appropriate specialist.
